Healthy Summer Habits

Summer time is one of my favourites. I love the warm weather. I love having less clothing to wash and pack away. I love sitting outside in the sun with a good book. What I don't love about summer is the lack of routine we tend to lean towards. I don't naturally crave routine, but I do know I do better maintaining a healthy lifestyle when I implement moderate consistency and routine into my everyday life.




Move.

I move everyday. One yoga sequence I do everyday is cat / cow flows. I also do sun salutation A's and B's everyday together with malasana or butterfly for a few minutes/.




Sunscreen.

Truth time! I don't wear sunscreen, but I have a skin that browns really quickly and once I am brown I don't burn. I do however suggest that you do whatever is necessary to prevent sunburn. Skin cancer is real so wear your sunscreen!


Water

I keep a water flask on me at all times. If I don’t, I tend to go all day and only drink water at meals. Get a water bottle you love and commit to your hydration. Try swapping tea, cokes and fruit juices for water with lemon, mint, or fresh berries. You will notice a difference in your joint mobility, skin and even your energy level. AND... it is one of best ways to detox.




Veggies.

Summer is a great time to add in more veggies. I eat salad everyday. It’s easy and the prep time is quick. Try to think of new ways to mix it up so you don’t get tired of eating the same thing. Try adding, tuna, capers, cooked veggies, berries….I could go on for forever.





I hope this helps give you some ideas and inspiration for a a healthier summer lifestyle :)
